Memoir Debut
No one walks alone
Walking sixty miles in three days may be extreme but so is cancer. Following the news of my sister’s breast cancer diagnosis, I signed up for my first walk. I thought it would be a one-time solo event. What I discovered instead was a journey of the heart.
In over two decades (and counting) of walking , I learned a lot about myself, the built-in biases that weigh us down, and I heard remarkable stories of survival, loss, and hope.
The Dream
The Writing Prompt Mystery Series
Ever since I sneaked into my sister’s room to grab one of the books from her Nancy Drew Mystery Stories collection, I have been fascinated by mysteries and detective stories. Writing the fictional stories have always been a dream.
Thanks to a word prompt site, I dipped my toe into the genre with a word prompt-inspired detective series. Over sixty entries share short stories about a homicide detective. Stay tuned for a writing prompt series that encourages readers to dip their own toe into the creative writing world.
It was an excellent read, with much insight into walking the 3 day breast cancer walk.

The book was well written & held your attention throughout the reading – which I completed in one afternoon. Informative & provides the reader with some points in self reflection. I enjoyed the read from cover to cover & I hope you do, too!

What a unique, warm, witty tale! What I love about this book is how the author uses her own journey of personal growth to relate how our biases impact us. More than that, it shows how biases hold us back and get in the way of progress.
I didn’t realize just how many biases I have until reading this. What a great way to learn about overcoming your habits, and about perseverance! Great story.

About Me
I spent over thirty years as a professional business writer in both the corporate setting and as a small business owner. My love of storytelling blossomed into my debut memoir that recounts my two-plus decades of participation in the sixty-mile, 3-Day Walk for the Cure. I also write at my blog, OldLadyBiz, where I celebrate the joys of reading, writing, and walking (lots of walking).
When I am not writing, I care for my amazing mother, who has passed the century mark, and our adorable Miniature Schnauzer, Penny. I also create designs for the Old Lady Biz Store, featuring fun collections for book lovers, writers, walking warriors, and anyone who enjoys a touch of old lady humor.
